An Equitable World*
Platypus Advisors seeks to accelerate positive social change towards a more equitable world. We recognize that currently, race and intersecting identities (gender, ability, sexuality, etc.) too routinely determine life outcomes. Our institutions, culture, and systems work together to perpetuate disparities and keep our communities from thriving.

We Have a Role to Play
We have much to learn as an organization and as individuals about how systems work together to perpetuate disparities. However, as a social impact consulting firm, we have a responsibility to ensure that our research, analysis, and recommendations in all client projects center principles of equity. To do this effectively, we recognize that we need to deepen our own awareness, understanding, and practice of equity within our organization.

Commitment to Centering Community Voices
We believe the people and communities most impacted by the issues we work on know best what is needed to address disparities and build an equitable world. We commit to centering these voices in our work with clients as much as we possibly can. We know that this will require us to question our assumptions, gather multiple perspectives, embrace difficult conversations, challenge dominant culture, and continually learn and adapt.

Commitment to Our People
We commit to building a firm of consultants who represent a variety of identities, perspectives, and capabilities. More importantly, we commit to nurturing a culture and organization where this difference is celebrated, and where our people can bring their authentic selves to work—for, it is only when we feel like we truly belong that we do our best work. Further, we commit to continually examining ourselves, our interactions, our policies, and our practices to ensure we are centering equity and inclusion at every turn. And when we fall short, which we will, we commit to learn, heal, and grow together.

That is, a world where life outcomes are not determined along the lines of social group identities (race, gender, ability, sexuality, etc.).
